Coming Soon: The President making full use of the bully pulpit- for trade deals

you want to see some orwellian bullshit. your ears will be full of. It's already started with his cabinet members. Next week is the SOTU.

He wants these trade deals desperately and he's going to do whatever he can to shove them down our throats. sorry, but that's just about as obvious as could possibly be.

In his upcoming State of the Union speech, President Barack Obama is expected to prioritize what is emerging as his legacy issue: combatting America's growing wealth inequality. Expect him to promote policies to create new middle-class jobs, especially in manufacturing, and counter the erosion of wages now undermining workers economy-wide

But in the speech, Obama is also expected to highlight several major trade initiatives, including his priority Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) deal, a massive pact with 11 Asian and Latin American nations that Obama hopes to sign quickly. The business lobby is at full tilt pushing Obama to use the SOTU to call on Congress to pass Fast Track trade authority for the TPP.

The thing is that economists of all stripes agree that U.S. trade policy has been one of the major contributors to growing U.S. income inequality.

are just an extension of trickle down. I know that things have not worked out so well for the 99% but that's because we've been too restrictive with our wage demands, environment concerns, and health and safety concerns. They (corporations) just need less restrictions and nasty regulations and all will be wonderful.

Besides he promised this in exchange for Penny P's support.

And another thing, why are we struggling? If he can't ram it thru the next Conservative Democratic president will. Maybe those among us drinking the Kool Aid have something. As long as it's not grape, I hate grape.

And the fact that the GOP, hitherto reflexively against EVERYthing this president says/does/proposes, is all of a sudden on his side.....on this issue. What's all that tell you?

...of just how much he didn't push for a public option and/or dropping Medicare eligibility to 55 years of age.

It picks the scab off that wound and it is so "in your face" yet now I am sure, once again, that I will be labeled an "Obama hater" here.

The parties slap us around enough as it is, but when they get together, you know we're about to get fucked really hard. We'll have to go to the hospital and get sewed back up after this one. This two party system we have is nothing more than a good cop/bad cop routine, and we keep falling for it time after time. How bad is it going to have to get before we take to the streets and throw them all out? Apparently, it's going to have to get worse, because all we do is bitch and moan about it all. I'm just nauseated by this bloody shit.

our standard of living to the world average. They think we have it too good. Instead of bringing all those countries up, they're bringing us down.
