I am really working hard to keep from feeding trolls.

Like they say 'round the south: You get down in the dirt with a pig, you both get dirty, and the only one happy is the pig.

I was a little leery at first because I knew some of the posters I liked to read were a little overly passionate and got posts hidden quite a bit.

They're still here, so I imagine the rules allow for a time out along with being shown the door by the front third of Skinner's right shoe.

The ignore list really does add to the experience here. No doubt, people will now carp at this about "never putting anyone on ignore" and similar chest-pounding. Whatever. To each his own. I don't have to see the posts of people who really are abusive and nasty, so I live merrily without them. Works for me.

I went looking for a poster I hadn't seen in a while and found that on the transparency page.

I've got 4, so I've looked closely at it.

5 in 90 days and you have a vacation til 90 days after the oldest hide.

I can go til Feb 13 and I'll be back to 3!

and are waiting for the Administrators to decide whether (or not) to let them back. (As frustrating as it must be, it's a really bad idea for that poster to create sockpuppets while s/he waits, or to send scathing emails to Skinner et al ).

Posters who have 5 or more hides in the last 90 days are suspended until their Transparency page is no longer displayed - the message in that case is something like 'Active but temporarily unable to post.'

Thanks for that precise info.

That's what is great about DU, the facts eventually are known.

Reading less, and posting less OPs as well. Sticking mostly to other places.

I suspect I am not alone. Granted, I started that well before those "rules" came in.
