About those marriages on the Grammys last night

Are they legal? Is Queen Latifah ordained? I thought she said she wasn't.

Was that strictly symbolic?

Queen Latifah is not an ordained minister. However, she was commissioned to perform the ceremony in the state of California just for that one time.

I am not quite sure how California law works on this, but apparently Queen Latifah does have the legal authority to marry people in California.
