The new daytime programming schedule for msnbc will debut on Feb. 24.
Starting that Monday, News Nation with Tamron Hall will move to 11 a.m. ET and Andrea Mitchell Reports will move to 12 p.m. ET
Tamron has established herself as one of the best news anchors in the business. It strengthens us to have her hosting during our morning news block, said Griffin. Andrea Mitchell is so critical to msnbc and Ive always thought her show should be at noon. Andrea brings on the biggest newsmakers of the day and the new time slot will help showcase her work.
Additionally, msnbc is adding two new voices with Ronan Farrow at 1 p.m. and Joy Reid at 2 p.m.
One of the highlights of this job is finding new talent, said Griffin. Ronan and Joy are two of the most thoughtful and impressive journalists out there and Im excited for what they will bring to the afternoon.
Daytime schedule beginning February 24, 2014:
10 AM Jansing and Co.
11 AM NewsNation with Tamron Hall
NOON Andrea Mitchell Reports
1 PM Ronan Farrow hosts*
2PM Joy Reid hosts *
3P The Cycle
4P NOW with Alex Wagner
*Names for these programs to come soon.
Msnbc announced Ronan Farrows show development in October 2013. Prior to joining msnbc, Farrow was a foreign policy official in the first Obama administration. He founded the State Departments Office of Global Youth Issues and reported to the Secretary of State as the United States first Special Adviser for Global Youth during the Arab Spring revolutions. He also served for two years as a U.S. diplomat focused on the conflict in Afghanistan and Pakistan. A lawyer and a Rhodes Scholar, Farrow has written about human rights and foreign policy outlets including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times.
Joy Reid has been the managing editor of TheGrio.com and msnbc contributor since July 2011. Shes also been a frequent substitute host on MSNBC during all dayparts. Reid is a political columnist for The Miami Herald and editor of the politics blog The Reid Report. Reid has worked in television and radio news since 1998 and her columns have appeared in a variety of outlets including Salon.com.

(16,371 posts)He's not particularly knowledgeable or articulate as a guest. I don't imagine he'll be any better as a host. I think they jumped the gun on signing him in October, based on his parentage (Mia and Frankie or Mia and Woody ...who cares enough to watch him longer than it takes to check out the blue eyes.) Imo, this schedule is nowhere near as interesting as it was last year. At least it should make it easier to stop watching MSNBC daytime.
