These are photos of juvenile Red-Headed Woodpeckers . The youngsters lose their black feathers over the winter as they grow. The third picture down has a Downy Woodpecker in flight. Marta took these photos through the glass wall in a dining room.

and had the HELL scared out of me by this huge owl. It was hooting it's little heart out. I wasn't expecting it so close by, and there was this deep, loud "Who, who!" in the dead of night. LOL.
Red headed woodpeckers are beautiful. I've seen a few down South, here.
