There are a LOT of Midwesterners who don't care much about the east coast simply because it's constantly being shoved down our throats all the time.
Maybe she's from the west coast or the south where it's actually warm.

laugh at cold temps and snow all the time. Anywhere in the country. "WE live in Paradise". Makes me want to throw something at the TV.

So maybe that's it: maybe the 20 degree temperatures today in Boston and New York look balmy compared to the high of 1 degree in Chicago and Minneapolis (highs were in the negatives yesterday), or 6 in Cleveland.
