Obamacare is a failure, right?

I got my insurance issues squared away. Because I make 16,000 a year, I qualify for insanely discounted rates. This is a PPO through Blue Cross Blue Shield

Here's what I pay...

Premium: $90 a month
Deductible: $50 annually
Maximum annual out of pocket: $2,250

Primary care provider: $5
Specialist: $10

ER visit: $35

Prescriptions-

Level 1: $5
Level 2: $10
Level 3: $15

Vision exam: $5

Chiropractic: $10

This isn't socialized medicine. But, at that price and level of benefits, it's pretty damn close.

2. A Foxnews Friend let me know that the exchanges are a mess and not working at all.

I said that sounds kinda strange since 12 million people are already enrolled into the ACA. But hey, what do 12 million people know!?

Glad to hear you have such good coverage, to me it sounds like it is working exactly as predicted.

3. It's taken me months to get through. Clearly the enrollment system needed and needs work.

Even now I still can't log into my account. I had to do everything over the phone.

But those issues are removed from the actual plans and coverage.

9. More than what? More than for a crap policy

that could drop you anytime you got an expensive illness and needed insurance the most?

Which could happen to any individual policy before the ACA.

So for less than $100 a month more you have insurance that you can actually count on.

10. Yes, more than we paid before for our old crap policy.

We had to sign up on the exchange because my wife lost her job (ironically due to cost issues related to ACA according to her former employer - which I don't believe). Regardless, we were covered through her job. Although, if they hadn't laid her off, I would have lost my coverage on her policy because of the "family glitch" in ACA and would have had to pay even more to cover myself.

So, either way, we got screwed.

And no, it's not less than $100 a month more for insurance we can actually count on. It's a $100 more a month that we can't afford for a crap policy that we can only use after we shell out 7500.00 in deductibles. I just finished paying off a medical bill from June of 2013. Only one more outstanding medical bill to go and then the whole shitty process starts over again. Yippee! If we're lucky, this time around we can get 2014 bills paid off by mid 2015.

11. You aren't worse off than before. Without the ACA you wouldn't have any insurance,

or it would have been even more expensive, depending on any preexisting conditions.

It's like being mugged and only getting stabbed once.

On the plus side, I just read that our ins provider's stock is rising on Wall Street. So, that's good...for somebody.

17. That deductible doesn't come into play for most common visits/treatments

So you can use your policy immediately.

My wife is past due for a steroid shot in her spine. The last one cost us about 1700.00. More than double that if they require an MRI. Hopefully we'll manage to get a tax refund this year to help out. Until then, she'll continue with massive doses of OTC painkillers.

I am in Michigan, make a little more money than you and have a lower premium ($45.14), no deductible, no copay for generic drugs, preferred are $15, non-preferred and specialty are both $50 (all in network). One free eye exam per year in network. My max out of pocket is $750.00

My primary care provider is $10.00, but we all get one wellness visit a year free. Specialist is $20.00.

My ER is $75.00 but it is both in and out of network. Then my inpatient charges are all $0 so long as I am in network. I guess the worst that can happen is that I might need an ambulance ride once I finish in an out of network ER for an in network hospital stay.

I think we all get some Chiropractic visits free too. I would need to look that one up since I don't have those issues. My sister does and we discussed it briefly some months ago.

I was with Blue Care Network but this new plan is with Total Health.

I am really happy with my new coverage. I was one of those people who could afford insurance but could not afford to use it. I finally started going to a doctor last September. Now that I am on my generic drugs my blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride numbers are all where they should be (they were not before).

Obamacare isn't a failure for me. That is for damn sure.
