We all know the makers of beer and party food are the real winners this weekend but who do DU'ers think will win the "big game" this weekend?

(34,341 posts)Puppy Bowl "players" were adopted into forever homes. That will probably happen with the kittens too. It will be fun!

(8,554 posts)It might help eliminate the problem of overcrowded shelters, at least for the puppy and kitten factor. They could do one every weekend, moving around to different regions of the country. It could really help, if somebody with money to burn stepped forward to fund the whole project.
My man is mad cause I'm more excited about watching these kitties than I am for the big whooping football extravaganza. Not a loyal fan, he says. Not enough 12th Man fever, he says. Well, I love cats and couldn't actually care less about football, ha!

(34,341 posts)with puppy players, Keyboard Cat Halftime show, a blimp with a hamster crew & penguin cheerleaders is so much more awesome than watching a bunch of sweaty, overpaid men hitting each other while sexually objectified female cheerleaders jiggle on the sidelines not contributing much other than providing cheap thrills for the male fans.
I can't wait for the Inaugural Kitten Bowl, I really like your adoption ideas too. Well, I hope you don't get too much grief, lol. Have fun tomorrrow!

(22,380 posts)"who cares?" but it was not an option.
There are some (and I point at my own chest) who don't know who's playing and who don't know if that's football or baseball.

Other than that, nope, don't care.

(12,157 posts)Because this huge waste of money and energy will be over for a while. One of these days people will wake up to the scam that professional sports have become.
Sorry for the rant but you did bring it up.

(9,186 posts)a quarterback in the NFL or a linebacker or a defensive tackle in the NFL are scammers? In the NFL.
These guys, in the NFL are athletically gifted. They play a violent physical contact sport in the NFL. They are paid insane amounts of money while we, the taxpayers pay for the stadiums the filthy rich owners use and then we have to pay to see these people play in the stadium we built...
I love watching football, but it is a modern version of the WWF and WWE..it is showmanship. Players each have their patented after-play "move" dance" that no else can copy. or else!!!
It has been cheapened and has lost it's roots.
Just don't forget you are mandated by the NFL to say the fucking words: ....."In the NFL" whenever referring to a player, his talent or position... in the NFL.

(1,348 posts)Football players in particular are either rapists, or rapists in training.
It was all discussed right after the Pit Bull Wars. Maybe you missed it.
BTW, I hope Seattle wins. And I'll be watching the game. I guess I'm just not as hip as the cool folks who aren't.

(12,157 posts)And I don't hate sports as such. I just think that sports have become a definite opiate to many people becoming so important as to push out all other things. Where i live parents push their children into sports and care more about that then anything.
Enjoy the game.

(8,554 posts)http://www.forbes.com/sites/onmarketing/2014/01/29/yes-a-super-bowl-ad-really-is-worth-4-million/
This year, a 30-second spot is an eye-popping $4 million while a 60-second spot goes for a jaw-dropping $8 million. And lets not forget the cost of producing a Super Bowl commercial. The average Super Bowl spot has a production cost thats north of $1 million and, based on how extravagant the concept is, some can easily double or triple this price.

(24,853 posts)and throw for a Super Bowl record number of touchdowns. I want to see him light up Richard Sherman for say, five touchdowns. Long ones.
Then, I want to see Russell Wilson mount a 4th quarter comeback reminiscent of Montana, Marino, Elway, Brady, and the rest of the best of comeback quarterbacks. I want to see Wilson voted MVP, and here him say "I'm going to Disneyland!"
So I guess I want to see Seattle be the team that scores the most points in 60 minutes.

(10,893 posts)because they have a more balanced attack, having the #1 defense all around in addition to a good O. I'm not going to lie, though--as much as I hate the Broncos, their offense is crazy scary. Their QB is one of the best in the history of the game, and their O-line is nothing to laugh at, either.
I hope the Seahawks are prepared for tomorrow.
