for Georgia, and why he didn't declare an emergency before the storm.
It's refreshing to see local media doing their job. They are not buying the 'I'm in charge act' he tried to trot out.

(61,694 posts)any deaths directly related to the traffic tie-up. The deaths I've heard about were accidents in rural counties where their county leadership may or may not have been on the ball.
Still, scary shit. There are special needs children that spent the night in their schools, away from parents for the first time. There are stories of other parents bringing in medication or getting prescriptions filled.

So which is it?

(27,556 posts)Both Deal & Reed had access to the same information and BOTH of them chose not to act on it.
Blame them both or blame neither. But at least be consistent.

(115,103 posts)It's flipping sad. The NWS did their job.
One wonders when people got the idea that forecasting was an exact science, and that they could expect conditions to develop exactly when and where they were forecasted to develop.

(54,770 posts)Folks who went to work, headed home at same time in early afternoon. Too late, roads were frozen. Happens everytime in that kind of weather pattern.
Nathan Deal is too stupid to expand Medicaid to help poor. He darn sure can't handle roads and weather.

(182,769 posts)From Santorum trying to privatize the weather (Accuweather) to local talk radio only talking to alternative (to NOAA/ the Weather Channel) weather forecasters it shows how "sciencey" they think it is.

(153 posts)I think blame should be spread around to people who were all sent home at the same time. When they should have stay at work or school to allow the trucks to retreat the roads again and so everyone would not be on the roads at the same. The roads where pretreated but everyone got stuck on the road and could not get extra relief. One question i have is why were the schools open when there is even the slightest mention of snow or cold weather they are closed?
On the positive side he will probably get the blame and it will hurt in his reelection bid. Go Jason Carter 2014!

(1,451 posts)And I know Georgia isn't used to this but they have a Republican Governor. Republicans do not believe in Science. It is impossible for him to believe the big old scary National weather service. Especially since they don't believe in Climate Change induced weather anomalies. Feel sorry for states with these individuals in charge. I am in one.
