An Omaha man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the shooting of 5-year-old Payton Benson.

Vincent Hicks, 20, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree murder. Adonus Moses, 22, was arrested on suspicion of criminal conspiracy to commit second-degree murder.

Both were arrested in the wake of a Jan. 15 gunbattle that sent a stray bullet into Payton's home near 45th and Emmet Streets. She was killed as she ate breakfast with her mother and little brother.

Police were holding Hicks and Brown on charges connected to a stolen vehicle that was at the scene of the shooting.

and why was Adonus Moses released from jail so soon? In 2008 at the age of 17, he was sentenced to 6 to 10 years for Felony 1st Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.
