to go along with has your income decreased? thread.

Are younger people making a lot of money when they enter the job market? What are entry level salaries like for college grads that actually do find a job?

Is it mainly the older employees that are facing more and more decreases in their salaries? Or is it the whole job market that is going down?

Is it caused by the 1% taking more and more for themselves?

For my job in my industry, entry level (bachelor's degree, no experience) is $50k (give or take $1-2k either way). It's higher in higher cost of living areas.

Experienced workers?

Well entry level is (1) $50k or so.
Level 2 would be $60-70k - minimum 3 yrs experience or 1 year with Masters
Level 3 $80-90k - 6 yrs or 4 years Masters
Level 4 $90-120k - 10 years or 8 with Masters
Level 5 $130k-ish - Starting and 5 and on up, there aren't hard requirements, it's all about your work experience and training.

4-6s are managers, 7 director, 8 VP. Also once you reach 3 years experience that doesn't mean you're automatically promoted.

This is in-line with other companies in the same industry.

4 year degrees no experience - $37K to $52K.

Advanced Degrees no experience - $60K to $80K

No experience is subjective - we tend to hire first from our co-ops/interns because we already know how they will perform.

Most analyst jobs and higher at hq start somewhere in the $90K to $110K plus at all levels we have really aggresive annual bonuses.

I've been hearing that from a lot of people.

Do you have time off away from your work and away from your phones?

We have flex time which works awesome for my commute - and so I start at 7 and leave at 4.

Because of the nature of my job - I do have to pull some reports and get my info over to law enforcement on a Saturday here or there - but general Fed Law enforcement tries to do the stuff I do with them on weekdays.

The smartest thing I did was leave the marketing org and come over to biz controls - My pay increased, my scope narrowed while gaining high visibility in the company with less direct reports. Love it.

Finance/Biz Cont also made right when Mkt org had a male working for me making more money than me. Smart folks over here that saw my pay scale should be 'corrected' going back to December 2007.

as I know someone who is 37, and getting ready to transfer from a junior college. She wants to major in design and economics. She only has retail experience. She has done a short internship in fashion design. She's Korean, still working on the English. What are her chances to succeed? She's poor too, and can only go to school on scholarships.
