An absolutely unrestrained and wholly dominant Republican regime would engender active opposition from most quarters in no time, as much from within their own ranks as without. The present system of pendulums and checks/balances prolongs the degeneration due to some aspects of hope and differentiation periodically injected in erstwhile 'business-as-usual' proceedings.
