Lip-zipping
Jeez....here we go again. Another high-risk boomerang comment on MSNBC. Once again Phil Griffin has to genuflect before the Republican Party`s main mouthpiece, Reince Priebus, and the oxygen in everyone`s room gets sucked up by chatter about mean and nasty Democrats. Personally, I don`t think it`s worth it. Why? Ask Martin Bashir. There`s some old joke about banging your head into a wall because it feels so good when you stop. Maybe we should just stop.
After the comment about the Cheerios commercial, Priebus had to come out swinging. Had he not done that, we`d be talking about ignorant racists. Now, we`re answering accusations about mean Democrats instead. Maybe Joe Scarborough will weigh in tomorrow and, with the help of Mika`s nod, will be able to keep the story going another few days.
I know we have that Big Tent thing and all, and we`re a hard-to-manage motley crew. But instead of conveying messages of social and economic justice (for example) we`re constantly shoveling more crap off our information highway. It`s time not well spent.
My wish for 2014.....we let Rush be Rush (because The Haters need a place to call home) and we concentrate on a few simple, clear, truthful messages that will get people thinking. We could even work on something together here....then scatter it to the masses. There is so much riding on this next election that we really shouldn`t keep getting sidetracked with nonsense.
