perhaps they should consider taking on a 2nd or even 3rd job.

This is really the argument we should be making - there are a LOT of smart people out there today, there simply aren't enough good jobs in the world to employ all of them.

Democrats tend to respond by saying that government needs to create good jobs, and Repubs respond by saying fewer people should be going to college (it's amazing they are actually advocating for less education). I tend to think neither is a realistic solution.

It's one of the reasons why Franklin Roosevelt is considered one of the greatest Presidents in US history. If the government were to create enough jobs and pay them enough we could raise the wages of workers every where because people will not willing to work for the crap pay at places like Walmart.
