It was disconcerting to see all of those musicians looking so young and gorgeous. The music was just so good then...

especially not those unkempt Rolling Stones and their singer's stupid dance steps.

Fortunately, I was only nine, and my musical tastes matured along with me.

So I had to like the Beatles officially but I really liked the Stones more.

When the Beatles played the first time on Ed Sullivan it caused such a stir that the next day at elementary school that my neighbor pulled her shirt off in front of the other kids, we were maybe 7 at the time.

I still love all of it to this day.

A DJ in Columbus--I think--played "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" and the young lady who brought it over introduced it on-air. It was supposedly the first time a Beatles song was played for an American radio audience.

Think about it; back then someone had to physically bring a record with them on their trip across the Atlantic in order for that to have happen. I was a military kid living in England at the time, we all bought records, and returned to the states with them.
