My personal feeling about football is that I'd just as soon attend a Teabag rally as watch the Superbowl.
But since almost everyone I know will be watching it in a bar or elsewhere, I'm on my own. I still have a working VCR and lots of old tapes, so I'll probably end up watching a movie or two. I'm thinking about "Casablanca," and "Chinatown."
Of course, there's no way I'll be able to avoid the Monday chatter about the game, and it's times like that I wish I had a friend with a Panic Room that I could use.
Please note that there are no feelings of snobishnes, superiority, inferiority, or anything else that you may want to read into this post. I just don't like football (which means there are certain areas of the country and certain neighborhoods where I'd be shunned).
For all of you planning to watch the game and the endless commercials, enjoy.
If you're not planning on watching, what are your plans?

(28,498 posts)I'm off at 5pm (CST) so the game should be underway when I leave for home. The streets should be deserted so it should be an easy drive!
I have Monday off (for working Sunday) so I'll just hole up at home and take it easy.
On edit: "Casablanca" and "Chinatown" are good choices. Might I recommend "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre?"

(36,988 posts)NEW YORKAccording to high-ranking al-Qaeda sources, local operative Fasad al-Hashimi reportedly expressed disbelief Thursday over the exorbitant price of Super Bowl tickets, complaining that even the cheapest seats were listing at nearly $2,000. I cant imagine anybody wanting to go to this game more than me, but these prices are ridiculous, said al-Hashimi, adding that only powerful corporate executives and wealthy celebrities could afford to attend the NFL championship game.
Such a rip-off. The fact that the Super Bowl is too expensive for the average person represents everything that is wrong with America.
At press time, al-Hashimi had reportedly decided to shell out $2,500 for a Super Bowl ticket, claiming that the cost was a worthwhile expenditure

(16,835 posts)By the time the game comes on, I'll probably be doing some reading. I usually go to bed early so I'll probably be in bed by halftime. If I get invited to a party, I might just go. I don't really care for football but I could go for some free food and beer. At most Super Bowl parties I've been to in the past, people were more interested in eating, drinking, and talking than they were in the game. I would just ignore the game and enjoy all of that.

I hate football, gives me a headache - I think it's the whistles and the thought of concussions. I will watch baseball if I'm at the bar (not likely but hey...) otherwise, if I'm not playing in the game, not interested.

(8,554 posts)I am actually going to a friend's (big-screen-tv) home along with my SO, supposedly to watch the Super Bowl, but I've little interest in either the game or the dumbass commercials, so having saved up a few of this week's crosswords, along with today's Sunday one, I intend to be sufficiently occupied.
If the Seahawks hadn't finally made it there again this year, I wouldn't be going along, at all. My SO normally goes without me, but this year, I do feel duty-bound to attend. The entire state of wa has drawn together over this game and that so rarely happens, it does feel like an "event" I need to pay some attention to. But I'll enjoy my puzzles.

(5,364 posts)First off, it's the first nice day we've had in a while, and I love the sights, sounds and smells, as well as the feeling of mechanical directness one derives from driving a 44 year old car.
Secondly, the usually heavy evening traffic around here ( urban sprawl-ville USA ) will be much much lighter...at least till I navigate past the gauntlet of all the game party attenders cars parked along the street.
Third, the exhaust rumble will be conspicuous enough to make it obvious enough that at least this person is not watching the game.
I'll watch a couple of netflix DVDs ( old film-noir stuff ) I just got over a couple boilermakers.
