Christie Blames Wildstein for Bridge Closure in Email to Supporters
In an email leaked Saturday, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's office responded more vigorously to new allegations by his former Port Authority appointee that he knew more about the George Washington Bridge lane closures than he has admitted.
The 700-word email, reported by Politico, is titled "5 Things You Should Know About The Bombshell That's Not A Bombshell." It was sent to friends and allies, according to the news outlet.
From the text of the email:
2. As he has said repeatedly, Governor Christie had no involvement, knowledge or understanding of the real motives behind David Wildstein's scheme to close lanes on the George Washington Bridge
3.The Governor first learned lanes at the George Washington Bridge were even closed from press accounts after the fact. Even then he was under the belief it was a traffic study. He first learned David Wildstein and Bridget Kelly closed lanes for political purposes when it was reported on January 8th.

Christie goes on in the email to slam Wildstein even going back to his high school social studies teacher.
I think Christie is banking on the fact that there's no proof he knew about and ordered the closings. I've read that Christie rarely uses email. Something he learned from his days as a federal prosecutor. I think Christie is trying to put Wildstein and Kelly in such bad light that even if they both testify against Christie no one will believe them without corroborating evidence.
