my cousin adopted a 9 years in Nov and I asked what does she want for Christmas.. she said the girl like Legos and I thought well that is cool. She said she like the Lego Friends.. so I went to Legoland and I couldn't believe.. it was like Barbie version of Legos..
I told my cousin how disappointed I was in Lego. Girls can build just as boys can.

and I got plenty of mileage out of Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys, often combining them in Rube Goldberg fashion.

Dolls didn't interest me at all and I've always despised pink because that was the color of the bedroom I always got stuck in. I grew up living inside something's stomach.

i think toys need to stop being marketed in the way they are. toys should not be seen as being for a gender.

we have seen a lot of male chefs. imagine a young boy who has interest in food and cooking being encouraged to do so at an early age by getting him the easy bake oven . imagine what he could do starting early and how good he could be when he is an adult.

same goes for girls and things like cars, building toys etc. girls who can be encouraged to learn what interests them early on. girls starting an auto repair business.

stop trying to push kids towards certian things based on gender stereotypes.

if i have kids i will buy toys meant for both genders for them .

and yes, it was a boy. He was almost indecently proud of his chocolate "cakes" and loved showing how the whole business worked.

I agree that sex typing toys with cover art and colors needs to end. Most kids will fall into the stereotypes, that's why they're out there. However, there will always be overlap, too.

Lego needs to bag the pink unless they're offering the same stuff in it. As of now, they're not. Sex typing a lesser collection is insulting as hell. I hope parents wisely bypass the Barbie Legos in favor of the more complete sets.

Their son wanted to be a chef at a very young age so my friends brought him cooking toys for every birthday and xmas (although we don't have the easy bake oven here, we have similar things). He's currently 19 and doing well in catering college (culinary academy).

not that i support those kind of stereotypes, but it's obvious that the people making and selling these toys do. this past halloween i noticed quite a few more boy costumes than girl costumes at walmart.
