Just 2 of us for the game, Marta is making a "real" small corned beef

Marta loves corned beef. But store bought is just flavor injected and doesn't taste right. This is the first time she has tried this on her own. It has been curing over a week. She had to pick up several ingredients or spices we didn't have in the house.

I 'm actually having an old 1800's cattle drive recipe for beans. She only makes it once a year, usually on my birthday week. Salt pork, soaked pinto beans, tomato paste, onion, and more. I was going to have it a different weekend, so I could enjoy her corned beef. But this was when she felt like making the beans.

I'll have a Reuben sandwich or two later this week.
