Oh Noes! Coke is multilingual, Pepsi tests on aborted fetus cells--how about RC Cola and SodaStream?

Looked in on the Freepers. This is why they are toast in 2014, 2016, and beyond. Unbelievable!

Tone deaf. Either they didn’t test market it, or they don’t care that it’s offensive to many.
There’s a stark difference between multiculteralism and the concept of a “melting pot” society where people come to America and become Americans instead of Hyphens.
For Coke to take sides in a political debate, intentional or not, was stupid.
New Coke Stupid.

Sad how aliens can come here and cling to their homeland, but being an American patriot is frowned upon as “supremacist”.

1. I didn’t think it was a big deal. There have always been people here whose first language is not English. Whatever. At least they chose a patriotic song, not a repeat of some globalist “teach the world to sing” drivel.
2. People complaining about the ad should keep in mind that anything you say may be used as part of a leftist “see!i told you conservatives are racist” narrative. Just be careful what you write.

Haven’t drank the stuff in years.
Probably will never now.
Murdered one of the most beautiful songs ever.
Still remembering singing it in grammar school in the early 50’s for morning assembly.
Thanks, Coke.

I have read so many offensive anti-immigrant posts on FR in the last few weeks that I actually cancelled my monthly payment today because I don’t want to support anything that gives people like you a forum.
I did this even though I suspect that many of the most ravingly anti-immigrant (particularly, anti-Hispanic) posters here are probably Dem plants trying to (and succeeding in) riling up the latent nativists. Of course, they never mention the LEGALLY imported Muslims living on federal and state handouts and planting bombs in their spare time, while the Mexican gardeners are actually out there just cutting people’s lawns.
It’s a pity that you’re being used like this, but that’s what it is, and I sure don’t want to contribute to it.

The thing is, immigrants of the past wanted to be AMERICANS...they learned the language and culture as soon as possible. They had their old country traditions, recipes, history, ect. which they kept and passed down, but when they came here they became Americans. Now they do not want to become Americans, they want to bring their third world countries (plural because it is not just people from Mexico that do this) with them. What about our culture? We are losing our culture with this salad bowl liberal multiculturalism nonsense.

I don't drink soda.
But I hated that commercial. In grade school, we were taught that America is a melting pot. Then, later, America became a mossaic where we are one but everyone keeps their own identity.
Progressives don't understand or want liberty.

Promoting The Tower of Babel-—divide and conquer.
The Leftists just want to destroy everything which unites us—by this perpetuation of “Multi” rather than “One Under God”. They are erasing the concept of God-—and have to erase Western Civilization, particularly ENGLISH (John Locke and Adam Smith).
That radical concept of the USA—the “shining city on the hill” is GOING DOWN if we erase our Traditions/God and Language. (That is the Left’s design).
It just is more of deconstructing America so it is meaningless to the younger generation-—so a new narrative of Marxism can be progressed and God and the Founders and the Constitution can be erased.

...first generation immigrants have largely spoken their native tongue, picking up a bit of English; (2) second-generation immigrants speak English in public and the native tongue at home; and (3) third-generation speaks mostly English, retaining just a bit of the mother tongue.
Your pattern is only used by 3rd world immigrants. Immigrants from Europe and East Asia work hard to speak English and assimilate within the first generation. I'm 1st generation born in this country (German WWII refugees). My grandparents did everything they could to learn English and become US citizens ASAP. My mother's English is so perfectly pronounced she sounds Canadian. And my parents demanded perfect grades from their children.
That is NOT happening with the 3rd world immigrants America is swamped with today. Instead America lowers its standards to their levels - including the debasement of "America the Beautiful." I would rather have heard those ethnic groups sing the song in English with whatever latent accent they possess!
Shame on Coca-Cola!!!

To: Conscience of a Conservative
“But, English or not, keep in mind that they were singing an American, patriotic song.”
Then why didn’t the sing it in heavily accented but gamely attempted English?

Aside from the misspelling of "pluribus", he is using a Latin phrase to defend against speaking other languages. Further, the "motto" literally means "from MANY, one".
