More Christie Troubles: Aide Resigns As Investigations Turn Focus on NJ Governor
The scandal enveloping New Jersey Governor Chris Christie continues to escalate. One of his staffers, an aide named Christina Genovese Renna, has resigned.
Renna has been subpoenaed as part of the New Jersey legislatures investigation into the bridge lane closure scandal, in which Christie administration officials closed traffic lanes to punish the mayor of Fort Lee, New Jersey. In a statement given to NBC News, Renna said her resignation reflects a decision I have been considering since shortly after the election."
Renna worked for Bridget Anne Kelly, the now-fired deputy chief of staff who e-mailed Port Authority appointee and Christie friend David Wildstein with the message, Time for some traffic problems.
The news of Rennas resignation comes days after Wildstein accused Governor Christie of lying about whether he knew about the lane closures. Christie has denied he did not know, but Wildsteins lawyer said his client has evidence tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the Governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference.
