(86,084 posts)But I don't mind it so much... I have arctic-wear! I just got back from my daily hike and it's actually not so bad after the first five minutes, if you're dressed for it. Got some more wood from the shed, ready for a cozy evening. It's supposed to be a little colder tonight, -20F to -30F something. The good part is that the wind isn't blowing, light snow with sunshine at the same time.
Stay warm! I know it doesn't seem that cold to those of us in the winter-zone but I have lived in SoCal and when the temp drops some 50F it's a big change and it feels like it's a lot colder, moisture helps that too. Up here it's pretty dry, sadly the cold dehydrates the snow in a hurry so we might have five feet of snow but it's at about 30% of the moisture should have. Won't be much runoff this spring if things don't change.

(86,084 posts)I was just noticing that the map is updating. I posted it around noon, MDT and it's warmer now, soon to get back to a big purple patch in the Rockies. We're expecting some significant chill tonight, that starts about an hour before sunset... soon.
Mexico is getting some pretty hefty cold, for them, this week. Not so good for all the crops in the interior down there either. There is a pretty good elevation change from coast to interior plateau, would account for some of that.
