A rant at TV commercials, and a peek into the future

Thanks for listening. Maybe it's just me, but I LOATHE TV commercials.
One reason why I bought cable TV. Fast forward to 2014 : Now, they have figured out
a way to disarm my beloved fast forward button, even on old shows that I pull up on demand

Fast forward a few years (if they haven't done it already), there is talk of disarming the MUTE button
so you have to HEAR the commercials.

Fast forward ten years: Are they gonna make mandatory "TV watching chairs" so that
if you try to get up and leave the room during a commercial, straps spring out of the chair
to hold you down? And those eye lid opening clamps (see Clockwork Orange) will pop out
of the head rest to keep you watching??!!! Whew I need a cigarette.
