Watching the snowboard gold medalist on the podium getting his medal . . . .

When he was boarding, he was cool and relaxed and chewing gum. Cool. A proper amount of swagger.

On the podium, he was sober and respectful and clearly proud. Emotional, even. I can only imagine what a huge emotional wave must wash over a winner, on the podium, listening to their national anthem and watching their national flag get raised.

that does it for me, too! I cry like I'm watching my own kid up there on the podium.

You didn't deserve it and the snowboarder certainly did not deserve it, but I have been a bit overwhelmed by the corporatism of the Olympics. Henry Kissenger is on the IOC. Huge sums of public money spent during a time of austerity so Corporations can receive special treatment and advertise their BS. Once again sorry to "rain" on any parades.

other in a giant hug when the scores were finalized. That's what does me in. When different countries come together in delight.
