Do you love Obama enough to wear these?

I have a number of disagreements with our president. Still, I have an enormous affection for him. I also have an enormous affection for expensive cowboy boots. My one pair of real cowboy boots is the oldest pair of footwear I own (bought in Nashville in the 1990s) that I can still wear in comfort and with joy.

Therefore, when I saw this pair of boots, I really had to fight off the urge to bust out the old American Express card. Since boots of this kind generally have a price tag in the $500+ range these days, I must sadly accept the fact that there is no way I will ever own them.

Still, I think they're mighty fine.

But, you know, if they didn't have the Obama head, I might really be tempted to buy them. Well-made, well-fit cowboy boots are quite comfortable.

It says "World's Greatest Dad" and it has a giant picture of my face smacked in the middle of it. I wear it all the time and I get tons of comments from random people.

Maybe I'm just dim-witted, but I never understood why people would have a "world's greatest dad" shirt and then put a picture of their kids on it. The kid's aren't the greatest dad, I am.

It really is kind of freaky, but I love it!

Schizoid personality disorder (SPD) is a personality disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards a solitary lifestyle, secretiveness, emotional coldness, and apathy. Affected individuals may simultaneously demonstrate a rich, elaborate and exclusively internal fantasy world.[1]

OK, so not all of it fits, but a lot of it does!

.... as do my eyes. And $4,400 smackers for a pair!

OTOH, I know there are people who really, really dig cowboy boots as a fashion statement steeped in Americana, and some seem to find them comfortable as well. So while they are not for me, anyone who wants them has my blessing.

And to think I thought I was being extravagant with my purchases of Obama T-shirts and coffee mugs during his first campaign and first term as president...

I know similar boots are in the $500 range, so I assumed these were too.

I do like cowboy boots as a fashion statement (or at least a fashion aside--I don't know if I really make fashion statements.) And honestly, the pair I have are as comfortable as almost any other shoes I've worn. Although, if I had to walk miles, I might prefer sneakers.

Incidentally, I'm not dude, but I do prefer men's boots. I think they're more comfortable, and I don't think it's just because the heel is usually lower.

...statement. They are elaborate, hand-tooled, say something about you -- heck, why do some women collect expensive handbags or Prada shoes? Why not? I like to accessorize too, just in other ways.

>sigh< I have (or had) extra-high arches in my feet. I wrecked them in college when I worked as a sales clerk in a fashion department store and was required to wear high heels. After college, as long as I worked in an office I tried to wear high heels ("low" high heels) because they really complete an outfit, but they hurt like hell if I actually tried to walk very far in them. At some point I left that world, and I don't wear high heels any more. They're pretty, but not for me.

Enjoy your boots, Dark n Stormy! I'm just a tad envious, is all.

suffer a little for fashion. Painful feet is too much. I've never worked in a job that required or where I felt I ought to wear heels, so I've been fortunate in never having had to wear them. I wear them on very special occasions only.

but if they were free or a gift I'd put them up on a shelf like a piece of art.

I love the colours and general design - although normally I detest cowboy boots , these are kinda nice - even if it wasn't a pic of Obama on them I think there is a strange kind of beauty to them.
