"All Together Now": It’s time for President Obama to stand up to oil companies and just say no!

Bill McKibben to Obama: Say No to Big Oil
As the showdown nears for the Keystone XL pipeline, environmentalist Bill McKibben says:
it’s time for President Obama to stand up to oil companies and just say no.

...................

After the State Department issued a long-awaited environmental impact statement on the controversial Keystone XL pipeline last week, environmentalists and those opposed to the 1,179-mile pipeline have intensified their push for the Obama administration to reject the project.

This week, Bill Moyers talks with Bill McKibben, an activist who has dedicated his life to saving the planet from environmental collapse, about his hopes that Americans will collectively pressure Obama to stand up to big oil.

“Most people understand that we’re in a serious fix,” McKibben tells Moyers, “There’s nothing you can do as individuals that will really slow down this juggernaut … You can say the same thing about the challenges faced by people in the civil rights or the abolition movement, or the gay rights movement or the women’s movement. In each case, a movement arose; if we can build a movement, then we have a chance.”

...Drill, Baby, Drill SOTU Last week,
and framing Energy Independence as primary goal in the War on Terror and Economic Recovery,
I can't help but believe that the Keystone Pipeline is already a Done Deal.

Too many Big Name Democrats and Talking Heads have already started lining up to support the Keystone Pipeline.
Labeling and marginalizing those who oppose the Pipeline as "terrorists" has already begun.

Former Montana Governor and candidate for the Democratic Party 2016 nomination was on Ed Schultz
last week, and both were Hard Selling the pipeline along with Richard Trumka who gave the UNION endorsement,
despite the fact that the Pipeline will be primarily built by NON-Union low wage temporary labor,
so it is really ANTI-LABOR.
(Trumka was seduced by wealth and power and went over to the Dark Side long ago.)

There is also this:

The Koch Brothers-Keystone XL Filthy Oil Connection
Keystone XL Pipeline wouldn't contribute to U.S. energy-production, but instead to exports of the global-warming-dirtiest oil, from Canada, to Europe and South America. It would transport Alberta Canada's tar-sands oil -- half of which is owned by the Kochs -- south to two Koch-owned refineries near the Texas Gulf Coast for transshipment mainly to Europe. President Obama is thus trying to get Europe to relax its anti-global-warming standards to permit their importation of this oil, which is the world's absolute worst oil from the global-warming standpoint.

For the Koch brothers: Possible $100 billion in tar sands profit if Keystone XL pipeline is approved

Authors of a 40-page report by the liberal think-tank International Forum on Globalization have concluded that the billionaire duo, David and Charles Koch, stand to make as much as $100 billion in profits from their holdings in the tar sands of Alberta if President Obama approves the Keystone XL pipeline.

What is not so well known is the Koch Brothers considerable influence INSIDE the Democratic Party.
Their money helped get Bill Clinton elected back in 1992,
and Koch Industries had a seat on the DLC Executive Council (BFFs).

http://americablog.com/2010/08/koch-industries-gave-funding-to-the-dlc-and-served-on-its-executive-council.html

The people the Koch Brothers helped put in power are STILL Big Names inside the Democratic Party.
Whatever the Koch Brothers want, they BUY.
It no longer seems to matter which Party is "in power", or what The People want.

Never-the-Less, we must raise our voices in unified opposition to this pipeline,
because OPPOSING this is the Right-Thing-to-Do for our environment, our Party, and our Future.
