On of the best lines in Saving Private Ryan is when Tom Hanks asks Ed Burns where his BAR is and Ed Burns responds " at the bottom of the channel, damn bitch tried to drown me". On serious note both the Germans and the Japanese tried to take out the squad member who had the BAR because they were so scared of it.

due to its ability to take out cars. The Ashley Gang in South Florida (operated from c1910 until the mid-1920s) used them to rob over 40 banks, and to dissuade a Chicago mob family from "taking over" their vertically-integrated liquor supply business which fed Miami.

Hard to conceal the "rifle."
