Priest in Italian prison says Amanda Knox is like Nelson Mandela

A prison priest has compared convicted killer Amanda Knox to Nelson Mandela because she is free in “heart and conscience”.

Don Saulo, the chaplain of Capanne prison where Knox spent four years , made the bizarre statement in defence of the American. He insisted she was “terrified” of being forced to return to Italy to serve a 28-year jail sentence.

Father Saulo said: “Mandela spent half his life in prison, yet he was free within his heart and conscience because he said, ‘I’m innocent’. That’s how it is with Amanda.

“She has the deep conviction that she is innocent, so she says she isn’t a prisoner and never will be.”

Father Saulo, who ran study classes with 'Foxy Knoxy' and let her play his guitar in jail, insisted she was “incapable of murder”. He said: “I spent a lot of time alone with her talking very deeply.

“From what I know of her I can say Amanda is incapable of murder.

Could be released now on day pass to "study."

How ironic that the man whose DNA and fingerprints were found all over the murder scene, and on the victim's body, will be out of jail after serving only 6 years in prison.

I wonder if the Kercher family will be nearly as outraged by this as they are about Knox and Sollecito. Their rage is entirely misdirected.

An FBI agent who has worked with confidential informants in his long career has said this has all the earmarks of the police protecting their informant. Guede was caught after breaking into a school, armed with a knife. The police ordered his immediate release.

this make the story less credible for me. I watched something about this on Netflix last night (it was one of those ID channel shows) and the emphasis that was put on her looks just amazed me. I found myself wondering how they would have treated her (the media and the court) had she been considered ugly.

They pushed so hard to convict Knox and Sollecito that Guede was given a suspended sentence for testifying against the pair. By pursuing their vendetta against knox, Kercher's family has freed the real killer of their daughter.
