I think so and this bodes ill for any women getting the nomination. By 2016 our economy may look like current Greece, and the electorate will want an Ike type president, an old white guy with white hair.
Joe Biden and "moderate Mitt" contest.

(90,061 posts)I think they are connected, part of the longing for earlier times is resistance to too rapid change, or they think it's too rapid anyway. And a lot of that comes from being tired of having to learn stuff all the time. All those clocks to set when the power goes out. Reading the small print on all those documents you sign. Responding to all the begging letter and "offers" you get in the mail, all the helpful and informative emails you get. And then there are social media. Anybody could burn out. After a while you just have trouble giving a shit about any of it. And that sounds a lot like ego depletion to me.

(9,610 posts)That explains the need to "unplug" from time to time. I do it. In fact, I am close now to an unplugging period now...

The OP is an interesting speculation in that light, but I don't feel it, that we are on the edge of something over that yet. It's there, but it's not a crisis, not here anyway. Humans are very tough, very flexible.
I'm more concerned about the situation from an environmental/economic angle. Food. Water. Heat. Things are not working as well as they used to. You can see it. Hungry masses deciding to move. War. That's happening now. And we seem largely unable to respond coherently, globally. We cling to our little disputes. It's a popular political strategy, stirring things up.
