promoting celebrities, programs and pharmaceuticals, because there is no FCC oversight and public service obligation ANYMORE.
Whose fault is that?

the news business was not a money making operation.
The common argument was that the networks created news programs as part of the obligation they had to the citizens of the United States for using their airwaves. Now that we have privately owned cable channels the FCC can't dictate to the networks the way they used to, especially with the current scotus. When all the channels were broadcast, the government could argue that no one made money on the news and that the playing field was level. Now that channels like CNN and Fox can make money with their "news" there's an unfair advantage to forcing certain rules on the broadcasters. I think a normal scotus would back the FCC but not the psychos we currently have on the court.

Media reform is of utmost importance to our democratic process, I just think it will require Congress and not the FCC to pull it off.

. . . you'd have had "lights, camera, action!" people tripping over each other to film the doofist trio.

PS. And lest you think that latter category of "action!" is a bit over the top as a descriptor for the press--remember the Fox newsbabe caught orchestrating tea-baggers before the cameras?

Revolution is coming, and apparently it won't be televised . . .

Pity they couldn't buy the 2012 election, though. Freaking dodged a bullet and there's more to come.

They got the most of the newstations.. the US House.. they want the White House and the Senate.

the public is allowed to know what the honchos think we need to know.

Nobody working for those networks can tell you otherwise. They know their job is to follow instructions.

Lawrence O'Donnell had an excellent segment on Moral Protest. Interesting comments from Ari Berman who was at the Protest. Lawrence pointed out that it was similar to the Selma March & showed polls that Republicans are in big trouble in NC. Link is below:
