(9,474 posts)It just started snowing here (Alleghany Highlands of Va) about 30 minutes ago and everything is already covered. We're expecting 8-10 inches tonight and another 3-5 tomorrow. Just hoping the power doesn't go out, as it will be a very cold night if it does.

(28,784 posts)but when I lived in the south, one time I went to a movie, a storm started, because it's the south it's more often ice than snow, the interstate had semis jackknifed all around, so we took surface roads as soon as we could... and it took us 5 hours to drive what normally took 45 minutes in traffic.

(45,851 posts)Haven't had much wind for some time, just the hiss of the wintry mix landing on the already frozen wintry mix on the ground, every now and then there's the pop and scrunch of a branch breaking off in the woods, otherwise it's really quiet here.

(24,559 posts)It is nasty out there. I am in Gainesville, GA north of Atlanta. We had snow last night and it has been sleeting most of the day. We keep hoping our power will stay on, but the sleet is building up.

(10,044 posts)in his posts and I can't recall any "Grits" since the storm in February.
Please tell me I missed some posts since then and that he is okay.....this is June (still) and he said he'd return.....I do not know him, but think he (or she) is a real nice person.
I used search and maybe should have gone thru the list longer....
Thanks.

(17,111 posts)I still here, but since February I lost both of my 17 year old sweet baby sister cats. I have gotten a pair of shelter kittens and they help. It is still not easy.
