(26,257 posts)When we had our ice storm, in December, I was so worried I'd lose some of my trees - the pines boughs were almost vertical and the tops were bent at a very odd angle. I lucked out but my neighbors - not so much.
Take care and stay warm!

(17,042 posts)Will the horse be okay? How do you keep a horse warm in such weather? I know... dumb question. I am a city dweller!
Hope you keep you keep warm!

(2,004 posts)Be very careful. We had ice last week and it has been so treacherous to get around.

(111,237 posts)and I hope you set your alarm and get a few shots. Don't stay out for more than half an hour because that ice will be dropping down off the trees and hurts like hell when it hits you. You know I know what I'm talking about.
There was a similar storm when I was a kid down there. I put on my mother's old hockey skates and at the age of 11 was light enough to be able to skate on the ice topped snow. I found a hill that hadn't been disrupted by sledders and had a blast on those skates.
However, I avoided trees. That stuff hurt as it fell.

So sorry you had to deal with snow... I grew up in South Carolina and have friends there who lost power yesterday. I've been living in the freezer here in Kentucky for the last month. Crazy, crazy winter.
Thanks for sharing the pics... hope all that ice is gone soon!

It was over quick here, my house was spared the limbs, but I did have ice chunks falling from them onto my house earlier today. Crazy sound to hear while sleeping in.
Looking at extended forecast, temps will approach 80 here in a little over a week. Hopefully we'll get one more shot at some snow here, but if the cold weather is going to wind down after this, I'll be ok with that too, lol.
Awesome pics by the way. I don't believe I've ever heard of your town before now. I'm going to make a spontaneous road-trip this year, and might have to make it a part of the journey.
