Is Valentine's Day sexist?

I'm curious about what the thoughts on DU on this are.

Many of which can be sexist.

Is a man and a woman having a nice dinner together sexist? Not in and of itself, but obviously it can be.

As for S&BJ day I think that depends on the price point you set at the beginning of the evening.

As to "S&BJD", I guess it mostly depends on who is buying the steak and who gets the blow job.

In my household, NO steaks (she won't eat bovine, and I'm vegetarian) and we reciprocate blow jobs.

are sexist in and of themselves. I think it's up to the individuals involved to celebrate or not.

If I do anything for a woman it is because I am sexist. Tell her she is good looking? I don't care about her brains and just want to screw her. comment that a dress she is wearing is nice, sexist because I didn't comment on the shoes Obama wore. Hold open a door out of kindness? Nope, all sexism because that person knows who all I have held a door open before and so I am a suspect.

Get a woman I like roses on Valentine's day? Patriarchal brain washing - even if she loves roses it is because she was controlled to love them. Or as some say in hof - they are good little cohorts who want a pat on the head from us men so they pretend to like roses and such to please us men.

Vote for someone who is pro-choice on issue of abortion? Post articles about states that are restricting abortion to raise awareness? Sexist because I am a man and none of my business.

Post a news story about a criminal that is female? Sexist and trying to make all women look bad (because, you know, I am all about stating that the few represent the many, just like I am with guns and how I think the less than one percent represent all gun owners or how what a few muslims do makes them all suspect...oh wait, I don't endorse that type of crap, but hey - let's pretend I do).

Talk different, act different, do anything even the slightest different based on my biology (straight) and I am a sexist who hates women and wants to keep them all down and thinks they are weak and nothing but baby machines.

So yeah - any holiday that promotes showing someone else that you might like them more than someone of your same sex is filled with sexism and should be stopped.

My advice - save women and ignore them this holiday. If you buy them something you hate them.

Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, whole deal for like 10 bucks. Absolutely deeeee-licious.

Sadly I cannot eat like that anymore, and maintain my Sports Illustrated physique.

He kept posting crap about Steak and Blow Job day on facebook over and over again. She was offended. I really can't blame her. What a dumbass my brother is. I don't think its a coincidence that steak and blowjob day has meat in it, because the day is about treating women like a piece of meat.

It's a silly holiday, but not sexist, imo. If you don't like it, don't celebrate it.
