WHAT ABOUT GIRAFFES? Denmark Outlaws Kosher Slaughter

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. The government has made Jewish and Muslim ritual slaughter illegal. Agriculture and Food Minister Dan Jørgensen said “animal rights come before religion,” claiming the way kosher and halal meat is prepared is more harmful to animals because they are not stunned before death. Denmark has roughly 6,000 Jews, and those who keep kosher import meat from abroad to circumvent the ban. The Muslim population could be greatly affected by this decision, though. In case you forgot, Denmark shot a healthy two-year-old giraffe in the head this week, so the country clearly places high value on the life and well-being of animals.

encouraging people to become vegetarian, because as far as the animal is concerned, whether they are stunned first or not, I am sure they would rather not be killed.

What was disturbing about the killing of the giraffes was if they exerted any effort I suspect they could have found a zoo somewhere that would have taken them in.

But I really believe this was a move to try and placate animal rights activists. After all like you said if this was about animal rights they'd be taking steps to encourage people to become vegetarians and such. Or take steps to get rid of the factory farming systems that exist which are inherently cruel to the animal even if they get the courtesy of being stunned the moment before death

their owns rules regarding inbreeding. Happily a new home has been offered to the other one affected.

Chechen Leader Kadyrov Offers New Home to 2nd Giraffe Marked for Death in Denmark.

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has volunteered to save a giraffe that could be killed by a zoo in western Denmark.

Kadyrov posted a message on his Instagram account Thursday saying that he would give Marius the giraffe a home out of "humaneness."

The death of a giraffe in Copenhagen last week made international headlines after a zoo publicly dissected and fed the 18-month-old healthy animal — also named Marius — to lions because his genes were well-represented in a giraffe breeding program.

More than 27,000 people had signed a petition opposing the euthanizing and the zoo said that some staff members had received death threats about the decision, made to prevent inbreeding.

They also had the option of sterilizing him if their concern was that he wasn't a good candidate for breeding. The unfortunate fact is that zoos kill off (or sell to unsavory outfits that do the killing) a fair share of the male population once they're past the cute baby stage. Big male animals tend to be aggressive and hard to keep, especially in spaces that are inappropriately small, as most zoo enclosures are.

Every stallion I have owned was gelded. Every bitch I have owned has been spayed. It solves the breeding and aggression problem.

I think adult animals are just as enjoyable as babies, but these people must feel they can attract more visitors with cute baby animals or horrific public butcherings.....Doesn't say much for the Danish people, in my opinion.

They really need to stop breeding animals unless they have homes lined up for them.

I wrote and gave them a piece of my mind.
