I'm on the east coast near Dublin and the weather and flooding have been fairly minor. Cork (my home town) and the south coast have been amongst the worst affected areas but even that was nowhere like the damage they've suffered in the UK.

On the plus side we've finally started to discuss the possibility that climate change could have a major, long-term affect on the country, a realisation which was long overdue.

Another due Monday and a third later mid week.

Wasn't too bad by the time it reached me. My house is 170 years old and when the wind is really high the slate roof clatters.

Nature is amazing.

And I didn't see God mentioned in that article though math is pretty much the language that God would talk to us in.

Love them! Read about fractals and Mandelbrot when it came up. Taught the basic idea to my physics and earth science students. Fascinating.

Several Youtube pics from Brit tv show that hook turning into a rotating sotrm.
They talked about 70 to 80 mph winds...that is hurricane force..they are having wave after wave of winter hurricanes.!
Took me a few minutes to realize what I was looking at, since we equate hurricanes with warm weather.
Poor Britain..getting some repeatedly pounded by massive storms..yuk.

Like all low pressure systems, it rotates counterclockwise*. When they occur off shore near New England, we call them Nor'easters.

* - In northern hemisphere. It's the opposite in the southern.
