Deputies: Pickens woman charged 9 years after failing to return J.Lo movie

PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Pickens woman has been arrested and charged after deputies said she failed to return a Jennifer Lopez movie she rented in 2005.

Kayla Michelle Finley, 27, has been charged with failure to return a rented video cassette, according to the Pickens County Sheriff's Office.

According to warrants Finely rented Monster-In-Law from Dalton Video, which is no longer in business, in 2005 and the tape was not returned within 72 hours.

Finley was sent letters to return the video several times but never responded, according to the warrant. It also said a certified warrant was sent to the woman on Sept. 12, 2005.

that after a business has ceased to exist, the company can't bill anyone. That's what they told me when Hollywood Video (which I really liked) closed down.

& it appears that they did. Otherwise, why the active warrant? This didn't just come out of nowhere.

I still have a book taken out from a university library from 1998 - meant to return it (honest), but it got packed up in a moving box and one thing lead to another, years passed, and that's the truth officer.

Our police and sheriffs department won't respond to much beyond blood and fire.

Fender bender? Anybody hurt? No? File a report on our internet site or call the community services officer.

Somebody threw a brick through your window? Anybody hurt? No? File a report on our internet site or call the community services officer.

Kids painting graffiti on your wall? File a report on our internet site or call the community services officer.

Video tape rented in 2005 and not returned? They'd probably laugh at you.
