Why were some frustrated motorists trapped in gridlock near the bridge last September told by Port Authority police to take their complaints to the mayor of Fort Lee?
That question, which has lingered for months, may no longer be dismissed as just a footnote in the controversy now enveloping the Christie administration over whether the traffic snarl that overwhelmed Fort Lees streets for parts of five days was really political retribution.
A special state legislative committee examining the scandal now plans to investigate whether the call-the-mayor instructions were really a way of getting the message to Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich, a Democrat, that the crippling traffic jams were punishment for his failure to endorse the reelection of Governor Christie, a Republican who had been touted as a possible future presidential candidate.
It appears that someone issued instructions or talking points, said Assemblyman John Wisniewski, the co-chairman of the special Assembly-Senate committee investigating the lane closure scandal. Someone orchestrated that.
But who?

(14,087 posts)It's always the ones on the bottom of the totem pole who are "stupid". My experience is that the people with the boots on the ground, and their immediate managers, are far more knowledgeable about what is going on than 99% of senior "management". Senior management is always so busy jockeying for political position, or trying to make themselves look good, that they don't have time to do their jobs, or to give a shit about consequences for everyone else.

Gov. Chris Christie has another childhood pal to throw under the bus.
In the latest twist to the Bridgegate scandal, emails show Lt. Thomas (Chip) Michaels took Christies Port Authority point man David Wildstein on a the tour of the George Washington Bridge at the start of the traffic mess.
The messages, reported on Sunday by MSNBCs Steve Kornacki, also indicate Michaels was aware of the plan to flood Ft. Lee with traffic the day before the controversial lane closings and kept Wildstein updated.

(296,881 posts)corrupt players doing the bidding of ..? ah, that is the big question!
Why were the police trying to blame it on the Mayor of Ft Lee when he was trying to find out himself what was going on?
"Simply put: Why would a Port Authority cop tell any motorist to complain to the mayor of Fort Lee about a traffic jam at the George Washington Bridge, which is administered and policed by the Port Authority? One possible explanation, now being weighed by the legislative committee, is that Port Authority cops became players in a political game by delivering a message to Mayor Sokolich."
If this is as true as it looks.. then they're aren't too freakin' smart are they? Didn't think this would get back to them, did they?
thanks malaise
