if they could have lived long enough to get coverage under the ACA?
Isn't that a heartbreaking thought? But, all I can think of is the crap Andy went through just to try to get money to live-

(58,162 posts)his example is one of the reasons why we must have medicare for all. the system is in place,it works,it is cost effective ,and it negotiates prices and services. andy had medicare his journey might not have been different but he wouldn't have had to worry about the costs. we could have raised money to help the people who cared for him not to help fight his condition.
i had a cardiac arrest last year the one of hospital bills i saw was 400,000 plus. medicare paid whatever they paid and i never saw another hospital bill. all the other costs in my rehab amounted to a few thousand. if i would have had a suppliment i wouldn't have paid a penny.
the biggest "cost" was my wife taking off work for over a month, the driving 80 miles a day ,and our family helping to pay for other stuff we could`t afford during the month i was away from home.
our system is going in the right direction but the fucking republicans hate the idea that a black man finally got what is a republican idea passed. they just can't accept that fact. funny little bush got the drug plan passed and no one mentions that. george bush was responsible for medicare part D.
