The ignorance and hatred of WND and right-wingers is appalling....and scary

A friend of mine posted this link on his Facebook which itself was linked from Drudge, and being a controller myself, I decided to click on it for the comments alone. Wow. Just simply wow. I made a few comments, and in response, received some of the stupidest responses from people I have ever seen in any argument. I don't post on this board often, but tonight was just one of those nights.

I mean, unless you were an ATC in the military, where would you get the training?

All air traffic controllers hired by the FAA are sent to Oklahoma City for anywhere between 7 and 12 or 16 weeks, depending on if you are in a tower or a ARTCC (I know Center students are there for a significant amount of time, something like 3 or 4 months). Up until a month or so ago, the FAA was also tied to a number of colleges to train students, and allow them to apply for controller jobs during special job postings just for them, but in the 10 or so years the Collegiate Training Initiative (CTI) has been around, they weren't getting the results they were expecting and put an end to the program.

I just really wanted to read the comments and the ignorant anti-goverment, anti-Obama rhetoric. It is maddening how completely out of touch they are.
