SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. The 15-year-old inmate charged with killing a corrections officer got the officer to come into his cell to look at something on the floor, then choked her from behind, according to an arrest affidavit.
Dylan Cardeilhac, 15, was scheduled to appear in Scotts Bluff County Court via video on Tuesday afternoon. He is charged in the death of Amanda Baker, 24, a corrections officer at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center. Around 2 a.m. Friday, officials said, Cardeilhac attacked and strangled Baker.
Amanda Baker
A video obtained by a Scotts Bluff County sheriff's investigator showed the attack took 2 minutes and 37 seconds, according to the arrest affidavit. The video "clearly shows that (Cardeilhac) had talked Amanda into coming into the room to look at something on the floor," the sheriff's investigator said in the affidavit.
At one point, the video shows Baker with her back turned to Cardeilhac. He then jumps on her back and begins choking her from behind. The two fall to the ground, with Baker on her stomach and with Cardeilhac's arms wrapped around her head and neck. The attack took more than a minute, the affidavit says, with Baker struggling before losing consciousness. Cardeilhac continued choking Baker for about 90 more seconds until she went limp, the investigator said.

Another psychopath has just come to full bloom.
And what kind of training from the Corrections Department allows someone to fall for that gag?
Very sad.

that just makes it more heartbreaking. I do hope, though, that this incident will at least lead to more intense safety training for future guards.

I hope the evil monster that did this never sees the outside of a prison again.

My sympathies to Ms Baker and her friends and family.
But it seems that any time a cell door is opened there would
be backup standing by for situations just such as this.

He should be now. Any future visitation should be through glass and speakers. Makes one wonder how many lives he has destroyed.

It took a guard walking past the hallway to see inmates doors were open.
