is sitting there yapping with Peter King (R-epuke). You know he knows it's happening and yet he is not reporting it.
The media and CNN is complicit in the manipulation and brainwashing of the American public. It can never be said too many times.

PS: Wolf Blitzer just found occasion to repeat Ted Nugent's horrific description of President Obama. Just appalling, our media.

(9,463 posts)instance of malfeasance on the part of the American news media in reporting important world news events. We're not being shown this so that we don't get any ideas about what might be if we were to fight back against the abuses of the 1% who are aggressively holding us back and holding our lives hostage.

(154,021 posts)It used to be just a tad less bad. Now CNN I is likely on it. Different market, same network

The problem is two fold, most Americans don't care about anything outside the US, at times next county over. Yes, it is that bad. And the media is owned by few people who have no interest in giving people ideas. It's a self feeding loop.
But the few indie media is shat upon, as well.
ChisolmTrailDem
(9,463 posts)Americans would see it.
My point is that they would rather talk about Ted Nugent than show Americans how brave the peoples of other countries are and how they fight for their rights and their freedoms and how they fight against corruption and oppression, both political and financial.

(154,021 posts)And CNN I, I bet, is showing it. You got to pay for it though, it is not part of basic cable.
CNN is a textbook of how the American media does this. It's a self feeding loop. And what I said about the few indie media still applies. I will not, under any circumstances, post a story we are reporting on at this site. People can read it on CNN for all I care. I am tired of being shat upon. And talking to some other indie reporters, they agree.
We all talk a big game and then turn on the big boys, cause you know they will cover events even better than the locals.
We just had elections locally. I kept all my analysis off DU. I learned my lesson during the scandal that led to that. MSNBC and Luke Russert did a wonderful job, not, but I kept getting shat on. So it is what it is. I do not even post media criticism here. It's irony on steroids.

(13,184 posts)And while I'm no fan of the Blitzer, I'm glad to see him exposing Nugent's incredibly offensive remarks. Obama is "a subhuman mongrel." Blitzer is effectively calling out the presumptive Republican nominee, Greg Abbott, to dump Nugent. This is good.

(9,002 posts)For a while, LBN was rather U.S. centered, and still is for the most part.
A bomb killing 50 people in *insert country* wouldn't have a thread in that forum yet a new poll showing Hillary Clinton's chances in 2016 gets entered as Latest Breaking News and has 100+ responses.

(26,549 posts)What would the topic of the debate around a bomb killing 50 be?
OTOH, there's lots of things to discuss about Hillary Clinton's potential candidacy. That causes a lot of posts.

(9,002 posts)and I'd like to be broad in nature - from around the world and not just local.
I read people here saying, "I come to DU to get my news," "LBN is the best news source," and so forth. It would be a fucking shame if they came here to get their news and didn't know that 10 Korean students died when the roof of the hall they were in crashed down on them, or as pointed out in this very thread what's happening in Kiev.
Sure there's lots to talk about re: Hillary - but it's not latest breaking news. It's smack for the political junkies.
Hillary announcing she's running/not running = LBN
Hillary's latest poll numbers = not LBN

(26,549 posts)Post count is only a measure of debate.
Very important subjects aren't going to receive much discussion, because there isn't much conflict around being crushed by a collapsed ceiling.
That was the point - you are using the wrong metric for what you are trying to measure.
Capt. Obvious
(9,002 posts)My issue is the fact that these stories don't make it to LBN - at all - so post count doesn't matter.
There's plenty of real breaking news that gets high post counts. I'm not complaining about news not getting enough replies - I'm complaining about the news stories not making it to the LBN forum.
I understand the urge to navel gaze but it seems to have consumed the community here.
When we point a finger at Wolf Blitzer we're pointing three back at us.
