Space Breasts

Someone had the bright idea to take no-bullshit gorgeous model Kate Upton, stuff her into a tiny bikini, and take her onto G-Force One, also known as the "Vomit Comet" - one of those planes they use to simulate zero-gravity for movies like "Apollo 13" - so they could photograph her tits in zero gravity.

Now, I like boobs as much as the next heterosexual male, but 1. This looked like no fun for anyone, 2. It astonishes me to what lengths the skin industry will go to show boobs in a new and different way...ermahgerd, zero gravity berbs, they bounce weird, ermahgerd...and finally, 3. How much did this mess cost? Know anyone who is hungry or short on heating fuel this winter?

I offer this as further proof: the fucking country is NOT BROKE. If we can take tits into space to take pictures of them, we are NOT BROKE. Our priorities, however, are so far up our asses they are coming out of our ears. Covered in shit. And stupid hyperexpensive tits pictures.

One of the benefits of being a late riser is missing much of the juvenile bullshit on DU and it sounds like that thread was a shining example of it.

The US is not broke, it's swimming in money. The US just refuses to distribute the money fairly among the people who generate it: the workers.

So there is plenty of money for some overgrown adolescent to send a woman whose only discernible talent is on her chest into zero gravity to see what that chest does.

There's just not enough for working people to feed themselves and their kids.

perhaps we should dissolve all government, after all the private sector is the only one to decide.

The irony is that the hand of the marketplace (mentioned ONCE in the Wealth of Nations) does not mean what fans of objectivism think it does.

Zero G Mammalian Protuberances is currently a legal activity and as far as I can tell everyone involved was a consenting adult. Sure the money would have been better spent at a Food Bank but it was not our money now was it?

If you care to expose how private money is spent beyond political donations go for it you are a journalist, you even have access to platforms us mere mortals do not have access too so many will read your writings on how private money is spent on private activities enabling you to earn money that I am sure you will also publically disclose how it was all spent seeing that we, the people, have a right to know.

Neither Will Pitt going to a fancy night on the town nor a SI photo shoot are really that much in comparison to the kind of big money that PACs or the military toss around. That photoshoot probably cost less to create than a small cocktail party at the national convention of a major political party. This "If we can afford to put a bikini model in a plane, we can afford to heat the homes of the poor" gambit is bullshit.

The danger posed to the public by private money is not the creation of a swimsuit magazine, it's the fact that they buy our government completely.

Here's an anecdote. I had a very good friend of my family who was extremely wealthy. His family built a huge alcohol distributorship over 50 years that profited huge. I have no idea what he was worth but it was multiple millions. I used to help run some of their charitable organizations. This couple spent hundreds of thousands in various charities. They were really good, humble people. I used to see him occasionally just tip a waiter or waitress $100 for a $100 meal. Very generous.

But he also liked his finer things in life as well. One thing he loved was the Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon...supposedly one of the best bourbons in the world. He'd spend as much as $2,000 a bottle sometimes. OK, he donates more money a year to charity than I'd ever make in a year but yet he also spends serious money on some finer things in his life. Should I be upset that he did this with his private money? No.

People spend over $5,000 bucks to ride on that plane. So I don't think it's reasonable to say that nobody had fun. It was most likely an interesting experience for all involved (and I'm talking about the weightlessness experience, not the nudity) https://www.gozerog.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Reservations.welcome&CFID=51514&CFTOKEN=ad15e5aca7157c2c-C7AC6832-FA37-8B34-04AE3E60BDE5C10E

And as far as price paid, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that operators of the plane let them do the shoot for free as a way to attract publicity. So most likely we're talking pilot time and jet fuel, which is something pissed away freely by millions of people doing all kinds of recreational travel.

A full crew for a model shoot, especially at that level, is extensive and the fares for camera operators, make-up artists, director, et al would probably purchase several herds of goats in Ethi. Our unrestricted capitalistic consumerism is a bit shameful.
