Perhaps this woman should give classes on how a responsible person "stands their ground"...

A real crime in progress, not a black kid walking in the neighborhood after dark, not texting in a theatre, etc...

"DETROIT - One tough mom showed the world this week just what she's made of - and it was all captured on video. A Detroit mother opened fire Monday night when three suspects broke into her home.

Surveillance cameras caught it all.

The mother tells our sister station Action News she "didn't have time to get scared." When she heard the door to her home on Woodrow Wilson being kicked in, she immediately warned the three teenage intruders and then opened fire.

One of the teens dropped a handgun on his way out the door. He then tried to get back inside the house a second time, but was again met with gunfire. Once again, he took off and all three were arrested shortly after the incident by Detroit Police..."

And the video proves that sometimes you don't have time to dial 911 and wait for the police to arrive.

Ok, you have a right to defend yourself. You have an OBLIGATION to know where your rounds (bullets) are going down-range.

You'll do just as well listening to one as you will fighting us, with less danger to the rights of others.

I believe a person has a right to protect themself but not to just start shooting blindly at a bunch of noise.

I read the small blurb written and answered to that. If there was more to it then I probably spoke out of turn. I NEVER shoot at noise...NEVER.. I identify a target and then aim at it and fire.. I always thought that was the responible way to handle a firearm.

Not only did she fire at sound AND sight of the guy kicking in her door, and entering her house,
one of the them was armed, ran when she fired the first shot, dropped his gun in the snow, picked it up and tried to come back thru the doorway into the house. She fired again, they all ran.
And, miracles of miracles, this was in Detroit, and the cops actually came out and later found and arrested the guys, all of whom had rap sheets.
So, they were armed, aggressive and the first shot did not keep them from returning.
All captured on her outdoor sercurity camera which she got after a home invasion attempt a couple of weeks earlier.

So good on her, I say.

had this been in Florida with no surveillance cameras? And then, even worse, what if one of her bullets had hit one of the kids?

The rifle is a High point 99 carbine, an "assault rifle". 9mm chamber, 10 shot mag. It needs oiling.

Anyone who is suggesting this woman did a thing wrong or should have done anything differently is INSANE. This woman legally, lawfully protected herself and her family from violent, armed intruders! It is pathetic that despite clear evidence on video, there are STILL some posters here who are so blinded by their anti-gun bias that they nitpick this valiant woman.

Guns have a place in society; they're an incredible equalizer. This woman was able to defend her family from three MEN because she had a gun.

Esp. HyperPunks™ like the one who had to hustle himself a little more by GOING BACK INTO the woman's house after fleeing the first time. Is there a kind of lurid fascination with this strain of thugh?

He should be warehoused.
