Va. Senate Approves Sunday Hunting Bill

RICHMOND, Va. — Sundays will no longer be considered a day of rest for Virginia hunters or the wild birds and animals they pursue.

The Virginia Senate passed a bill Tuesday that would repeal the state’s ban on Sunday hunting on private property.

--McAuliffe will sign it --

Proponents of the bill say current law is outdated and hurting the state’s hunting economy. Opponents said the ban made Sundays safer for nature lovers.

Virginia law currently states that Sundays are “declared a rest day for all species of wild bird and wild animal, except raccoons, which may be hunted until 2 a.m. on Sunday mornings.”

Exceptions to 'no business on sunday' law kept piling up until it's almost meaningless.

they have wanted hunting on Sunday for a long time. "Hunting tourism" as well as just more hunting. The law used to state that it was also a day of rest for the animals (except them damned raccoons) which I thought, as stated below, was due to Biblical reasons.

in the corporate state, so best allow hunting when they don't make you work that day. Food for the table. Enjoying nature. Keeping skills honed, just in case the Corporate State starts husslin' themselves too much.

At first only certain (state) ABC stores were open on Sunday now they all are - at 2 pm I think.
