Any ideas on how to get to the others? State Farm insurance is an exception to this rule--I dropped a 40 year relationship with them when they refused to get out of ALEC. No idea how many other people did, but they're still in it.

If those factors explain why firms join ALEC, what explains why firms leave the group? To answer that question I examined which factors best predicted whether a firm left ALEC in the wake of the Trayvon Martin episode. One of the strongest predictors was if a firm was in a consumer-facing industry, such as restaurants, stores or manufacturers of consumer products. Firms that were not in such industries those that mainly sold their products to other businesses were much more likely to stay in ALEC. This is why Walmart, Amazon and Coca-Cola all rushed to distance themselves from ALEC after the controversy had started.

(3,795 posts)ALEC has achieved SO MUCH over the past decade throughout this country, and they did it WITH the support of these big businesses.
None of the big businesses that EVER supported ALEC should ever be forgiven for the agenda that has been imposed on the American people in the name of corporate profits and wealth re-distribution to the top.
To make it easier: We have to support small, local businesses over big national, and multinational, businesses whenever and wherever we can. ALL Big Business shares the same priorities and agenda today (Costco excluded for now, but I haven't dug too deep there; Are there any others???).
Less is more in being a consumer today in America.
