Gallup is out with its annual ranking of the happiest states in the U.S., and this year North Dakota grabbed the top spot, taking the title from longtime frontrunner Hawaii.

(14,449 posts)Every person in North Dakota is now pretty wealthy yes that is exaggerated but when a fast food worker makes 20 bucks an hour, you know great things are happening. It would be great if every state could have this success.

(46,436 posts)Some people like that Wild West kind of excitement. It won't last when they get overrun by drugs, prostitution and other crime that follows oil booms.

I've lived here since 1975, and I've ALWAYS been happy with Alaska. I love this place.

Meanwhile, only 52% of the population of Kentucky identify with a religion, and only 39% of West Virginians identify themselves as "religious".
