Today's dumbest opinion I had the misfortune to get recommended by Facebook

Charles Krauthammer, know you're shocked. A man paid to convince people the sky is yellow for a living would write some propaganda is amazing. That he accuses others of doing it is of course the classic sign of a propagandist.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/charles-krauthammer-the-myth-of-settled-science/2014/02/20/c1f8d994-9a75-11e3-b931-0204122c514b_story.html

His problem is that he pretends not to understand what Scientific consensus is and then ignores that IPCC pretty much doesn't say the world best science can 100 % predict the future and thus that isn't what that term means to anyone with an IQ. All that is says is given our best data and understanding of past, present and future climate it is very unlikely to end up well for humanity.

But lets move on from that. He says Obama is an idiot for asking to fund mammograms. Why because long term it may have little effect. Of course short term... Hey you got cancer are you worried about your long term prospects 25 years down the road or 3 months, 6 months, 4 years. In 25 years many of us will be dead. Of course what signaled the ALARM about perhaps reading too much into mammograms... SCIENCE! See you can use science when it says something Chucky wants to hear. But all those climate papers published year after year (by the way Chuck the whole 15 year temperature pause is a myth not bared out in the SCIENCE literature) that shit you should just ignore. He does understand climate is a long term thing. It isn't raining today means nothing about long term climate patterns. Can climate change create both extreme weather conditions AND long term climate changes... possibly if you read the literature which melts his whole argument. Oops.

Chuck has a friend in the 70s that said it isn't true. I mean sure this type of inquiry was barely a field back then and the science on understanding climates is so vastly different today than the 1970s but hey the 70s science data is good enough then so it should be good enough now. In the 70s my good friend said he could fly off the roof like superman in the movies. So I guess we can ignore Gravity too today. My friend broke his arm... Charles today's frog sitting in a pot whose temperature is slowly rising.

Could the best predictions made by science be wrong... yeah. But I'll take those over blind ass guesses made by the people that don't want to hear what science has to say. If you believe in science then you're a religions zealot according to Chuck but then if you believe in science you can change with the best science information. It's the religious zealot still arguing for 6000 year old Earths and creationism. Science is arguing over how evolution works at the fundamental levels. Science is a corrective process blind guessing in the dark isn't If we don't use science Charles then what do we use? His argument seems to be use it when it supports me, ignore it when it doesn't. Wow very insightful. Or to turn his argument around. Perhaps that study on mammograms is wrong, I have a friend that had a mammogram and their still alive... so let's use Chucks criteria and say Obama is a genius for supporting them.
