Obamacare WORKS for this man injured in an explosion in Queens:

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook today:

"My brother is the "Queens man" who was injured in this blast. He's self employed, so has to pay for his own health insurance. He got a new policy via the New York State marketplace website. It cost 1/5th of what his old plan did.

He was just sitting, having coffee and planning his work for the day when the cinderblock wall of his apartment came flying at him. Possibly the only reason he survived is because his big screen rear projection TV landed on top of him and shielded him from the rubble.

So, emergency care, prescriptions for antibiotics, painkillers, and a sleeping aid came to a grand total of $2.00."

"A Queens man was recovering Monday from a major scare, from a wall that collapsed on him following an explosion in the apartment next door.

As CBS 2’s Tony Aiello reported, the FDNY blamed the use of a so-called bug bomb for the explosion.

“We heard a boom; we just thought something, like, fell, maybe next door or something,” said neighbor Sebastian. “It was very loud.”
The explosion shook the building at 39-20 Greenpoint Ave. in Sunnyside, Queens, and blew out the wall between apartments 1B and 1A. The gaping hole measured 10 by 12 feet."

Good to hear and best of luck to your friend's brother. (On a side note, I've always wondered if bug bombs were safe to use but this might've answered my question).
