The charter establishing Virginia, signed by the king, granted the Virginia Company absolute control of the entire stretch of land from sea to sea. Of course at the time the exact breadth of the continent wasn't exactly known...

and had dominion over the area drained by the Mississippi River and its tributaries, which severely limited Virginia's ability to stretch from sea to sea. And that's not even counting Spain's claims to lands west of Louisiana.

North Carolina had it coming...300 years of shifty, untrustworthy shadiness...

Hell; as a kid, growing up as a proud Virginian I dreamt of the day when I'd be able to lead an armored division of like-minded Virginians across the border to assert our dominance once and for all...

(West Virginia would be the next part of our campaign)

NC ports were the only ones that remained open.

The Royal Navy couldn't blockade them because our shifting shoals were too treacherous.
