Eleanor Roosevlet and her work on The Universal

Declaration of Human Rights.

Just watching what has been going on in this country really makes me think of Eleanor Roosevelt and the work that she did on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. She was ahead of her times and would be so disappointed by the country we have become.

Article 5.

No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.


Article 16.

(1) Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution


Article 25.

(1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
